ABOUT THE OWNER
Cassandra P. Scarborough is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in Virginia since May 2000. She has over 20 years of accounting, auditing, and general financial management experience. Cassandra opened her own firm in June 2009, which is located in the Arboretum office complex in South Richmond, Virginia.
After graduating with an accounting degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1996, Cassandra worked for Cherry, Bekaert, & Holland accounting firm where she started auditing private and non-profit entities. Cassandra then served in various capacities, including Audit Director, for Virginia's Auditor of Public Accounts (APA) where she led audits of government entities. After working with the APA for five years, she began functioning as the chief financial executive for three major organizations in Virginia.
Cassandra served as the Deputy Executive Director and CFO for the largest public housing authority in the Commonwealth of Virginia, overseeing a budget of $70 million. She managed 40 staff and five departments including, finance, procurement, human resources, risk management, and capacity building. She also served as the Regional Vice President of Finance for the American Lung Association of the Atlantic Coast, Inc. overseeing financial operations in Virginia, Maryland, and North Carolina. Lastly, she served as Comptroller for the Richmond Behavioral Health Authority in Richmond, Virginia where she was responsible for all financial transactions of the organization totaling over $40 million of federal, state and local government funding. In this position, she managed 15 staff working in finance, third-party reimbursement, and procurement.
